Stone fireplace products
Stone fireplaces have a timeless, permanent feel. There are lots of different types of stone and stone finishes to choose from, both in terms of budget and appearance. If you can afford it, you could go for the classic, cool elegance of marble, or choose a locally quarried stone, or add drama to your room with slabs of blue or green slate.

Any of these options will set you back a bit, though. As well as solid stone, you can now buy reconstituted or reformed stone fireplaces, where a natural stone has been ground down and then cast with cement in a mould. You can also get stone effects grafted onto plaster or resin-based materials, and this provides great flexibility in terms of design options. Be aware, though, that these stone-effect fireplaces are not genuine stone, so take a look and make sure you like the finish before you buy.
